Scaling up the Model for Inclusive Learning in Europe
The objective of the SMILE Project is to transfer and scale up the application of a good practice developed, piloted and successfully applied by the leading partner in Bulgaria. The Model for Systemic Approach to Create Inclusive School Environment and its main instruments (Guidelines for application of the Model, Self-assessment tool and E-learning course on building inclusive school environment through the application of the principles and approaches of the Model) provide an innovative whole school approach for transforming the environment in four areas of school development crucial for inclusion:
Shared and visionary leadership
Inclusive pedagogy
Child safeguarding
Partnership with parents

About Smile
A Few Words Smile Project
The Model for Inclusive School Environment was developed by the Centre for Inclusive Education (CIE) in partnership with five schools in order to implement and scale up inclusive policies, practices and culture at school. After its creation, CIE implemented the Model in another 10 partner schools in order to test its applicability in different school environments, further advance it and demonstrate its effectiveness.
